How to Post on Snapchat Spotlight (and Get More Views)
By the View Snapchat Stories team · · 1 min read
Spotlight is Snapchat’s feed of short public videos, like TikTok or Reels. Anyone can post, and a good video can reach people who have never heard of you. Spotlight videos are also public on the web, so they show up on your profile here.
Post a Spotlight video
- Record a vertical video in the Snapchat camera, or tap the photo icon to pick one from your camera roll.
- Add text, a sound or a Lens if you want.
- Tap Send To, then choose Spotlight.
- Add a description and topics (#tags) so Snapchat knows what it’s about, then post.

Habits that get more views
| Do | Why |
|---|---|
| Hook in the first second | People swipe away fast; show the best moment first |
| Keep it short | Videos people watch to the end get shown to more people |
| Post your own footage | Reposted clips and watermarks from other apps are pushed down or removed |
| Use 1–3 relevant topics | Topics decide who sees it first |
| Use a trending sound | Sounds group videos together in the feed |
| Post regularly | One video rarely shows how an account will do; ten will |
What gets videos removed
Snapchat reviews Spotlight against its Community Guidelines. Content that isn’t yours, misleading clickbait, dangerous stunts and anything sexual or hateful won’t be shown, and repeated problems can stop an account posting to Spotlight.
